Stories
« on: October 18, 2012, 08:46:09 PM »
I know how hard it can to keep the faith going at times and I don't know why I also struggle with it when I hear things from my patients at times. Most of the time I stick to the job at hand but there are also many times the visits turn out much longer than expected as I get caught up chatting with them about their lives. I don't know how the subject comes up at times, it just seems to slowly flow out from them or maybe exhaust of what I do they feel more comfortable tellig me what they might be uncomfortable discussing with someone else. Anyway, today I had a man who is 80 and was married for 47 years. I asked how long since she had passed and that is what triggered him to tell me more. His wife died 3 years ago and he said he talks to her everyday and then added she talks to him also. He seemed alittle embarrassed at first and said he does not know if it is real or not. I asked when and he said at night and thought he might be dreaming it but he sees her and they talk. I told him I believe she is really with him and not just a dream as I do believe that. Sometimes these stories come from the people you least expect. I had another woman who told me she would see a woman spirit in her home. This patient was a very tough old broad and drive a truck for a living. A very practical, no nonsense and non spiritual person.  A man told me a story about how he was in Vietnam and the truck he was in had an accident. His Mom freaked out that night as she had a dream about it and tried calling to find out if he was ok. She was able to describe the accident and landscape of where it happened. I love hearing these stories.

Now for me once years ago I was away at college and got an awful feeling about my Mom. Sure enough something did happen. That has never happened to me again. Would love to post this out in the main forum but there are too many out there that would love to negate these things as not real or whatever and I don't feel like telling them they are wrong.

Amazing Jordie thank you for sharing. You reminded me of a story that i would like to share as well.

Since this is the veteran board i am going to be open and just say that i have always had issues with death and not being able to get over losing the people i love (I had OCD over this when i was little). Anyway, my dad has lost a lot of family members in his lifetime, including his younger brother. His younger brother died unexpectedly in a fire several years ago and they still don't know the cause. When it happened, my cousin (his daughter) was being treated for Leukemia. 3 months after he died while in the hospital she was very ill. My aunt was talking to her one morning during this treatment and at the age of 3 while in the hospital she said, "mom, last night dad came to visit me. He said it it's time to go home to be with him in heaven." I about died when i heard this story. I can only imagine how my aunt must have felt. There is NO way a 3 year old could make something like that up. It really helps keep the faith that there is a higher power and that our loved ones are in a good place after they pass.

Lucky, thanks for sharing that. Your story gave me chills!  I hope your Aunt was able to take some comfort knowing that her husband was with her child, but how awful she must have felt at first hearing that.
