Stopping cold turkey
« on: August 27, 2025, 07:20:47 AM »
I've pushed myself to go weeks months and a year without readings. For the past 2 years I've been getting them here and there. And I've realised none of them have been helpful. I'm no longer ever going to get a reading again. Even free ones. I feel a bit late, like I'm 26. I wish I could have said "I stopped at 22" but I didn't. I let readings take over the best years of my life.

Give yourself grace. We've all been there. it takes practice to not get readings when our anxiety acts up. It's good that you have come to a place where you've realized this isn't doing you good any longer and you are going to take actions to fix it. Good for you!

Agreed: give yourself grace! You are recognizing the issue now and correcting

Thank you xxx it's other people judging me and getting frustrated with me, not understanding it's a real addiction, as real as alcohol or gambling, and something we take at our own pace ♥️

It's been four months since my last reading. This has been a summer of massive changes, a new career, a school program, an exam, unexpected pivots, tons of uncertainty. In the past I would have been talking to psychics all through ALL OF IT. It was a huge problem for a long time. The money I spent in 2021, I'm cringing! This time I'm leaning on prayer and loved ones, primarily my mom and close friends, for support. They're not always available, their time is precious, but they give it free and with genuine love. Even though I miss my readers, it feels peaceful to not depend on psychics and feel like crap about it anymore. I have other behaviors I'm working on, too. Better is better...

Notacrystalfreak and Jasmine..........super happy for you and proud of you. I know it's no easy feat to stop getting readings. Especially when you've relied upon them for either guidance, something to look forward to, to easy anxiety, or just someone to talk to that typically won't judge you. This is huge! You both got this! I hope to get to this point someday. :) Blessings be with you all.

That’s so amazing. I’m excited to see my life change. It does take work, because you always think “what would a psychic say” over everything. The money you spent in 2021? Some of us spent money 2019-2024!!!

Just laugh at your readings and if they come true they come true. Until then just take them as jokes and stop going to multiple psychics for the same question

I can’t tell you how much hope this brings me.

Laughter is great!

I’m currently working day 3 of being psychic free. I literally have to just take it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. Today I have today off… meal prep for the week is my saving grace: because its little things I can control like…my protein intake (lol)

So I’m dusting my toolbox (remembering the tools that help me). I’m working with self help book I bought long time ago. Today chapter was extremely uncomfortable and my resistance says:
-this book is antiquated
-I’m doing too much
-I’m not doing enough
-let’s have a drink instead

But it’s so nice to know that ppl do care about:
NOT outsourcing their own intuition.
Not outsourcing their choice- in fact this is honoring it!
Willing to feel uncomfortable in their feelings.
Willing to laugh at what’s uncomfortable.
Willing to make mistakes, feel anger, and it’s ok!
That is practicing free will

One tool that helped me a lot: was singing my anxiety of wanting a reading into pop song

Another was looking at it like welcoming the feeling like sexual kink: ooh la la the feeling grief is here, or ooh la la wanting a reading but not giving into spending money - wow what a turn on! (I know it’s weird; the energy doesn’t match. But it helps me laugh at the feeling but welcome it with curiosity versus avoid my feelings)
-ooh la la choosing to be sober when I want a drink on my day off! So hot!
😆
That itchy feeling- welcome it!
That annoying mosquito bite you’re not going to scratch but observe … with twist.
