When you get that reading, and its 100% accurate with the situation and makes complete sense and you don’t even want any other readings and you just go about your life and be happy.
-
It's like a high, but for me it doesn't last.

Sure - until you need another reading.. that's 100% accurate.. from the same advisor.. on someone else.. that enables you to go about your life and be happy... until... you need another reading...

me neither..esp. when reality of the situation is showing different than what the reading says

My predictions are coming thru! I am above the moon! It looks like my ex/poi is coming back into the picture!!!! And! I still want a reading to still “have control”... but I’ve been doing a lot self care to not give in.
For me it’s like being high and getting a psychic reading would be having chocolate ice cream... on chocolate brownie ...with hot fudge. I mean it is just gluttonous. So I need to let go. Even if I am happy ugh I still want a reading!
Congrats Flutter!!! That’s so exciting:)

The problem that I've found is that they often pick up on the situation well and then nothing happens...ever. So yeah, it makes you feel better temporarily and then you call again and again to get a second opinion or because their timeline passed and nothing happened. It's a vicious cycle and is basically like a drug high.

Congrats!!! Yayyyyy.

My predictions about my POI came true the summer before last. I don’t read often. I use my readings now as a road map.
You just gotta find that balance. If readings aren’t working, you gotta do something else. I made this post to bring optimism to the board. And to break the stereotype that everyone that gets readings has an addiction. And to say that you shouldn’t feel guilty if you get readings (it’s possible to enjoy your readings and not overindulge). And that happily evers do exist.
Sending prayers for everyone’s happily evers!!

I am all for positivity. I agree that readings can be very helpful, insightful, and can certainly guide you and support you in your journey. That is why I was drawn to them and I found them to be so helpful in making me see the spiritual side of things. I still think they are great because you don't just look at face value, you look deeper into things, and when you do that, you find a different meaning and understanding.
I just think it is very easy to get addicted especially with the online psychic networks. Everything is so accessible and you can just contact reader after reader and that can be detrimental.
So, I do think psychic readings can be very helpful, I think it can be hard sometimes to use them sparingly, especially when reality doesn't manifest the way you would like it to.
-
Agreed, but I think using psychics sparingly is the exception and not norm for most people on this board. I wish I was wrong about that, but I don't think I am. My name is fidget and I'm a recovering psychic binger...

Well said...

I think psychic networks like Keen definitely take advantage of addictive personalities and may introduce a new type of addiction, but I don’t believe it’s the cause of addiction. I think a person has to already have an addictive personality coming in, in order to over indulge. And that’s not to shame anyone. But it is a sign to look into yourself to find balance.

Thanks for the psychoanalysis. Lol! I don't think anyone blames Keen for their psychic addictions, but you're naive to think that there aren't advisors who exploit people in pain for money. Many, not all, but many, are no better than dealers.

They are so good at telling stories. I can spot the fakes really easily now, and even the psychics I trust, I still wonder if they are also being fake. They know how to tell you a story so that you believe they know what they are saying. I've read with so many that now I know so much when they feed you wrong information.
It sucks that I had to learn from experience to trust them less and less.

I didn’t mean to offend you. I’m just stating my opinion. I’m not naive. I just live life with accountability for myself. Naive is being easily influenced and allowing someone else to dictate where you spend your money

Some do take advantage for sure and thanks to this forum I’ve been able to see that.
The standard responses similar to -they are emotional and just working though things and many other lines, I fell for hook line and sinker. But reading through this forum I was like shit! They said that to me and that and that too.

Yes...I was very cautious with using Keen for the first several years. I didn't spend much and thought I had the habit under control. But after I went through a bad emotional shock it spiralled out of control. It is just too easy to keep calling. They need to have a way to set spending limits on these platforms. Of course, they will never do that.
What about spending limits in liquor stores? Fast food places? Tobacco? Casinos? Religion? Lottery tickets? Strip clubs? Shopping?
People have to take charge of their own behavior. On average, I call every couple of months. Sometimes I go for years without calling. If there is a really insane and stressful situation, like a situation this past summer, I ended up making 3 calls in one week. That was a real exception and definitely not the norm. I know my personality.
I have a friend whose husband's income is up and down and frequently they are short funds. They both smoke 2 packs a day and are hooked. At $13 a pack, they spend $1,560.00 a month for cigarettes. I think it's a ridiculous financial (and health) choice, but I don't get to make that choice for them. No one does. It's their money. If they spent it on Keen, lottery tickets, Taco Bell, whatever, I would feel the same way.
Sure, there are unethical people that take advantage but there are also people that say no and the caller finds someone else and keeps at it. They rarely have an Oprah ah-ha moment.
