Found this article about a woman who had a serious addiction to psychics. 
Her life fell apart around her including her marriage as an addict.

One part that stood out the most is that she never felt satisfied after one reading and she needed more to make her feel better , even if she never did.  She built up a tolerance and increasingly needed more readings throughout the day.
